GMN?XGate satellite phone email and and web browsing software will be compatible with the newly announced Apple iPhone 4S and Apple iOS 5,?both in cellular mode as well as when using the Iridium AxcessPoint Wi-Fi device.

Iridium AxcessPoint Mail & Web service, a key part of the September 7, 2011 Iridium Force launch, will also work with the new iPhone 4S and Apple iOS 5 operating system.

GMN XGate service has long provided email and accelerated web browsing service designed specifically for use with slow, high-latency satellite phone data feeds. However, it's advantages, and the ability to use the service with any IP-based data feed, have created a small following among cellular data users in areas with slow data services. To date, these services have been accessed only via Mac, Windows or Linux. Late this Fall, GMN will be making available a version of XGate that is compatible with iOS, making it available for users of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, either over cellular connections, or a Wi-Fi signal.

The Iridium AxcessPoint Wi-Fi device with Iridium AxcessPoint Mail&Web service enables Iridium subscribers to access email and connect via Wi-Fi to the Internet for light web browsing from anywhere on Earth’s surface using their smartphones, laptop and tablet computers, the Iridium AxcessPoint Wi-Fi hotspot accessory and Iridium Extreme or Iridium 9555 handset.

Iridium AxcessPoint Mail & Web software is being developed for compatibility across a broad range of operating systems, including:

-?????? Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP

-?????? Apple Macintosh OSX

-?????? Apple iOS for compatibility with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices

Additionally, web-browsing acceleration will be available to Android users through designated proxy servers.
